Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs.
Cream for 10 minutes at medium speed on mixer.
Add buttermilk, salt and soda. Alternate a little at a time with vanilla and flour.
Bake at 325Β° for about 1 1/2 hours or until done to touch in loaf pans that have been oiled real good.
When done, turn upside-down on sheet pan.
It will drop from pan when it is cooled.
