Cream shortening and sugar.
Add egg; beat well.
Sift 1 3/4 cups flour with spices, soda and baking powder.
Add applesauce alternately with flour mixture.
Beat well.
Mix remaining flour with raisins and walnuts.
Fold raisins, nuts and vanilla into batter last.
Bake at 350Β° for 45 minutes.
