Heat oven to 400Β°.
Grease bottoms of 12 medium muffin cups or use paper baking cups.
Mix baking mix, sugar, egg and water; beat vigorously for 30 seconds.
Stir in dates.
Fill in muffin cups about 2/3 full.
Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
