French Fried Onion Rings

Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, allspice, turmeric and sugar.
Beat egg with water and add to flour mixture.
Mix well to make a smooth batter.

Fry in deep fat heated to 360Β° until rings are browned and float to top of fat.
Remove rings from fat with slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
