Old-fashioned fudgy brownies built from cocoa, shortening, and a heap of chopped pecans. Sweet, dense, and laced with toasted nuts in every square.

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cocoa and powdered sugar. Add at once the eggs, shortening, eggs, tap water, vanilla and pecans. Beat 1 minute.
