Italian Crème Cake
Italian Crème Cake is an moderately easy Italian dessert you can prepare in about 1 hour 6 minutes. Made with oleomargarine, c. crisco, c. sugar, egg yolks and c. cake flour (self-rising), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Cream oleomargarine and Crisco; add sugar and beat until mixture is smooth.
Add egg yolks and beat well.
Combine flour and soda and add to cream mixture.
Alternate with buttermilk. Stir in vanilla; add coconut and nuts and fold in egg whites. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 8-inch cake pans.
Bake at 350° for 25 minutes.
Cool and use cream cheese frosting.
