Spread bread with mayonnaise, then mustard. Top with ham slices.
Core apples, but do not pare them.
Slice crosswise about 1/8-inch thick to make 18 slices.
Place 3 apple slices on each piece of bread.
Top each with 2 slices cheese.
Place on broiler pan and broil until cheese melts and browns slightly.
Serve at once.
