Mother's Icebox Rolls

Combine cold water, sugar and salt.
Add shortening to boiling water, then add to cold water.
Add eggs and dissolved yeast cakes.
Add 3 heaping cups sifted flour, beating well.
Add 4 to 5 more cups flour, beating as you add each cup.
Knead 5 to 10 minutes.
Put in refrigerator to rise at least several hours.
Can be kept several days.
Make out rolls and put in warm place to rise until double in bulk.
Bake at 400Β° until done.
