Shoo-Fly Cake
Shoo-Fly Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 c. flour, 2 c. sugar, 1 c. molasses, 2 c. warm water and 1 c. shortening, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Mix flour and sugar in bowl.
Cut in shortening until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup mixture for topping.
Mix molasses and baking soda with 2 cups warm water in bowl.
Add to flour mixture and mix well.
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan. Sprinkle reserved mixture over top.
Bake at 350Β° for 1 hour, or until cake tests done.
