Shrimp Creole
Shrimp Creole is an impressive American dinner you can prepare in about 1 hour 10 minutes. Made with c. flour, c. bacon grease, c. chopped onions, c. chopped celery and c. chopped bell pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Make a dark brown roux of flour and grease in a heavy pot. Add vegetables and garlic; saute until soft.
Add tomato paste; mix well.
Add remaining ingredients, except shrimp, parsley and rice.
Simmer slowly for one hour, covered, stirring occasionally. Add shrimp; cook until done (5 to 15 minutes).
Garnish with parsley and serve over rice.
