In a bowl, mix baking soda and 1/3 cup melted butter.
Add water.
Stir until thickens.
Add sugar, eggs, rest of butter, then rest of ingredients.
Can add chocolate chips at this point.
Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch cake pan and bake at 350Β° for 35 to 40 minutes.
