Double Chocolate Chip Brownies
Double Chocolate Chip Brownies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. (12 oz. pkg.) milk chocolate chips, divided, 1 c. sugar, 1/2 c. applesauce (unsweetened), 2 tbsp. margarine and 3 egg whites, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Melt 1 cup chocolate chips, sugar, applesauce and margarine in large heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
Remove from heat.
Add egg whites; stir well.
Stir in flour, baking soda, salt and vanilla.
Stir in remaining chocolate chips and nuts.
Spread into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
Bake for 16 to 20 minutes, or just until set. For fudgier brownies, bake to minimum baking time.
Cool completely.
Makes 24 brownies.
Each contains 7 grams of fat versus 11 grams in traditional recipe.
