Grandma's Tea Cake

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually, beating well at medium speed with electric mixer.
Add eggs one at a time, beating after each one.
Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
Add to cream mixture with buttermilk.
Mix well.
Stir in extract; cover and chill 1 hour.
Roll dough on a floured surface.
Cut with a 2 1/2-inch cookie cutter.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350Β° for 15 minutes or until edges turn brown.
