Light Baked Beans
Light Baked Beans is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. beans, 8 c. water, 1/2 lb. bacon, cut into pieces, 1/3 c. packed brown sugar and 1/4 c. chili sauce, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Wash beans.
Cover with 4 cups water and let stand 2 hours. Drain.
Combine beans and 4 cups water in large pan and simmer, covered, about 1 hour.
Fry bacon with onion.
In bean pot or ovenproof dish, combine beans with liquid and rest of ingredients including bacon grease.
Cook and bake for 2 1/2 to 3 hours at 350Β° until beans are tender.
Stir occasionally, adding water if necessary.
Remove cover last 30 minutes to brown; do not stir. Serves 6 to 8 people.
