Texas Brownies
Texas Brownies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. all-purpose flour, 2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. margarine, 1/2 c. shortening and 1 c. strong-brewed coffee or water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
In large mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar.
In heavy saucepan, combine margarine, shortening, coffee or water and cocoa.
Stir and heat to boiling.
Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar.
Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla.
Mix well, using wooden spoon or high speed of mixer.
Pour into a well-butter 17 1/2 x 11-inch jellyroll pan.
Bake at 400Β° for 20 minutes or until brownies test done in center.
