Dumplings
Dumplings is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. flour, 1 tsp. salt, 3 tbsp. shortening (solid kind), 1 egg and 5 tbsp. water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Work flour, salt and shortening together until mixture is like coarse meal.
Beat egg and water together and add to flour mixture, mixing well.
Divide into portions.
Roll portions very thin and cut into narrow strips, then into short pieces.
Drop into boiling broth.
Simmer a few minutes, then add the 1/2 cup milk.
Heat well, but do not allow to boil.
May add black pepper.
