Heat oven to 350Β°.
Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs.
Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and nutmeg (if desired) and stir in alternately with milk.
Blend both mixtures together. Fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Immediately roll in melted butter, then in sugar/cinnamon mixture.
Makes 12 medium sized puffs.
