Country Fried Swiss Steak
Country Fried Swiss Steak is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 lb. round steak (tenderize), 4 eggs, beaten, 1 tsp. garlic powder, 1/2 tsp. garlic salt and 3 (16 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.
Cut meat into steaks (approximately 8 portions).
Coat meat with beaten egg; then flour.
In electric skillet, season meat while browning on both sides.
(Use high heat - do not scorch.) Pour meat and drippings into 8-quart stew pot.
Add tomatoes, carrots, onions, black pepper and 2 cups water (more as necessary). Salt, pepper and garlic to taste.
Cover and stew on medium heat for 2 1/2 hours; stir frequently.
Do not allow all water to cook out.
Serve over or with mashed potatoes.
