Fried Green Tomatoes
Fried Green Tomatoes is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 green tomatoes, 3 tbsp. flour, 1 1/4 tsp. salt, 1 1/4 tsp. sugar and pepper to taste, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Wash but do not peel tomatoes.
Cut in halves crosswise.
Mix flour, salt, sugar and pepper.
Roll tomatoes one at a time in flour.
Brown on both sides in hot bacon fat.
Remove to hot serving dish and keep warm.
Add evaporated milk to the same frying pan.
Boil slowly, stirring constantly until thick (about 2 minutes).
Pour over tomatoes.
