Mama Ethel's Homemade Ice Cream
Mama Ethel'S Homemade Ice Cream is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 large cans pet milk, 1 small can pet milk, 2 large cans cold water, 3 tsp. flour (may use 1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch) and 2 3/4 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Mix flour, sugar and salt together.
Combine egg yolks and milk.
Thoroughly mix in cold water.
Mix thoroughly with flour mixture.
Cook over medium low heat until slightly thickened.
(Be sure to cook mixture in a grease-free pot.)
When thickened, strain mixture through a very fine strainer.
Add vanilla.
Cool to lukewarm.
Freeze in a hand-cranked or electric ice cream freezer. Do not allow salt used to freeze the ice cream get inside the freezer canister.
When frozen, pack well.
