Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 teaspoon sugar.
Scald milk.
Add margarine, salt and sugar.
Cool to lukewarm.
Add yeast mixture, 3 cups flour, eggs and raisins.
Add remaining 2 cups flour.
Let rise until double, approximately 25 minutes. Drop by spoonfuls into deep fat at 375° to 400° until golden brown.
