Heat olive oil in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, bell pepper, carrot and celery and saute until vegetables begin to soften, about 5 minutes.

Add broth and bring to simmer.

Cover skillet; reduce heat to low and simmer until rice is tender and broth is absorbed, about 20 minutes.

Mix in tomato and jalapeño.

Season pilaf with salt and pepper to taste and serve.
