Sweet Picante Salsa
Sweet Picante Salsa is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 20 tomatoes, 4 pears, 4 apples, 4 onions and 2 green peppers, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Cut and peel tomatoes; cook down until thick, about 2 hours. Simmer.
Chop pears, apples, onions, green peppers and celery and add to thickened tomatoes; boil down about 20 minutes.
Add sugar, salt, vinegar and spices and simmer until thickened, usually 3 to 4 hours.
Yields 1 gallon (approximately).
May be put into 1 container and refrigerated or packed in canning jars with hot lids.
