Chili Con Carne
Chili Con Carne is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 tbsp. crisco shortening or crisco oil, 1 c. chopped onion, 1 c. chopped green bell pepper, 1 lb. ground beef round and 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Heat Crisco shortening or oil in large saucepan or Dutch oven on medium heat.
Add onion and green pepper.
Saute until softened.
Add meat.
Brown lightly.
Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce, if desired.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat.
Simmer 45 minutes. Add undrained kidney beans.
Bring to a boil to heat beans.
Makes 8 one-cup servings.
