Put 1/4 cup of warm water (not hot) in a cup.

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1/8 teaspoon ginger.

Add 2 packages of yeast.

Let this stand until bubbly.

Cream together 1/2 cup shortening or 1 stick butter or margarine, 1/2 cup of sugar and 2 well beaten eggs, then add 1 teaspoon salt and 3/4 cup warm water and yeast mixture. Stir well.

Add 2 cups of bread flour and 2 cups plain flour.

Beat this mixture.

Knead 6 minutes in a mixer (or by hand).

The dough will be smooth and elastic.

Cut into halves again until you have 16 pizza shaped pieces.

Roll into crescent rolls, beginning with the bigger end.

Dip each roll in warm butter.
